The number of tourist arrivals to the Caribbean in the first half of the year recorded an increase of 5.8% or 800,000 visitors compared to 2014, reported a statement by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).
"Estimates suggest that the Caribbean industry is doing well and we remain optimistic that it will continue that way for the remainder of the second half. The CTO predicts a growth of 5% to 6% this year " said CTO chairman Richard Sealy.
The manager said that the Dutch Caribbean islands were the most benefited from the significant growth in demand, especially from the US markets and South America.
The United States remains the main source market for the Caribbean with 7.3 million tourists between January and June, representing an increase of 5.3% compared to the previous year's figures.
He said 2.1 million tourists from Canada and 2.6 million tourists from Europe visited the Caribbean.
In addition, up to 14.8 million tourists from countries of South America and the Caribbean itself.

The traveling site Frommers.com chose Curacao as one of the 10 best snorkeling locations of the world.
According to Frommers.com, in contrast to Curacao’s arid terrain, the marine life that rings the island is rich and spectacular. The best-known snorkeling sites, in the Curaçao Underwater Marine Park, stretch for 20km (12 miles) along Curacao’s southern coastline, and there are many other highly desirable sites as well. Sunken ships, gardens of hard and soft coral, and millions of fish are a snorkeler’s treat.
